They say it’s better to work smart than to work hard. But when it comes to your cardio workouts, that might not be the case.

Now, that doesn’t mean you should go out and do anything that’s dangerous, or that you should throw caution to the wind when performing your workouts. That’s not it.

However, it is erroneous to think that just because a certain machine or type of exercise is “easier” than another, and that you can even “do more” (supposedly), that you’ll get more benefit.

For instance, most folks can run a lot further on a treadmill or elliptical trainer than they can outside in the same exact amount of time – and it’s usually not as hard, either. But does that mean that more efficient, “easier” work did them more good?

Nope.

Ok, we know that to improve your cardio, there’s not going to be getting around doing hard work. Whether it’s Long Slow Distance (i.e. – jogging) and the “hard” part comes from how long it takes, or it’s High Intensity Interval Training (i.e. – sprinting), and the “hard” part comes from just how intense the work has to be, you’re going to be putting your effort in.

And don’t think that there are any shortcuts, either.

To increase your cardio, there are no technique improvements that will increase your aerobic or anaerobic capacities. You just have to do the work. And that means effort. And effort is hard.

While there might be certain exercises or methods of exercise that are more beneficial than others, the main thing that will give credence to your cardio workouts will be how much effort you’re putting in.

For example, walking and running are pretty much the same thing – one is just a much mroe intense version of the other. Same would go for doing a circuit of dumbbell complexes. You could do the exact same circuit with a pair of 50-pound dumbbells, or a pair of 2-pound dumbbells. Which one do you think will be harder?

You can’t really say that complex training is “more effective” than running, or vice versa, because it depends on how much effort you’re putting in. The complexes with 50-pound dumbbells will be much harder than walking. However, running at a good clip very well might be harder than doing complexes with 2-pound dumbbells.

See where this is going?

If you want to increase your cardio, you’re gonna have to work – and work hard.

Train Hard, Rest Hard, Play Hard.

Are you working “hard enough” when doing your cardio workouts?

<img alt=""six pack abs"" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2497/4186254190_fabe358f0e_m.jpg" width="160"/>
by istolethetv

In order to be able to get those six pack abs, first and foremost you will really need to build endurance in your abs muscles, and secondly you will need to get rid of all those layers of fat, so that the underlying abs muscles, and their muscle definitions are clearly visible to one and all in the form of sexy six pack abs. The concept sounds truly very simple to go ahead and execute. But actually having this two-step process work out for your will require a lot of dedication and commitment on your part. And of course this process will test your level of patience and the amount of time that you can dedicate to it. But in the end you will find that your end results were really worth your while.

It could be possible that you probably have really well-toned and really well-developed muscular abs, but all that sexy muscle definition is nowhere to be seen on your stomach, simply because of the layer of fat covering up your abs. So you know, exactly what it is that you need to get rid of. If you want to get some really cool abs muscles, you will need to first of all understand, as to what it is exactly that these abs muscles do?

Scientifically, the abs muscles are known by the name of rectus abdominis. In this, the first part of the name that is the term “rectus” in Latin implies something that happens to be straight, erect and appropriate. So the primary function of the abs is to work in co-ordination with all of the muscles on your back to create an erect and healthy body posture. Hence, it would be appropriate to say that if you are planning to build up your abs, it is going to be really equally important to work on your back too.

Since the back muscles and abs muscles have to work in tandem to create the right and most healthy body posture, if you are planning to train your abs, it automatically becomes compulsory to train your back muscles as well, to maintain general body balance and healthy body posture. This way you will be providing a balanced support for your spine to stay erect.

Therefore, the best exercise to start with, would be something that puts your entire power house, which is your back muscles and your abs muscles, to work together, in achieving the objective of building strengthened support for your spine. Two exercises that can really help in achieving this two-fold purpose are squats and dead lifts. These two exercises can together create a strong foundation of strong back muscles and abs muscles around your body, in order to help the body function, in whatever area, it has been naturally designed to function.

Another simultaneous advantage of these two exercises is that it also helps to tone your butts and hips, hams and quads, thereby increasing your metabolic rate and thus your fat burning process, which will speed up the process of your abs muscles beginning to show up over your stomach.

So now you know exactly what it is that you need to really focus on, in order to achieve visible six-pack abs quickly. Topping this knowledge with a disciplined, balanced and healthy diet, will further discourage additional potential fat layer build up, thereby ensuring super sexy six pack abs.

If your goal is to lose weight, you need to add some cardio to your TV watching. This next set of exercises will get your heart pumping.

Jog In Place

Jogging in place is about as simple as it gets. Make sure you have supportive shoes, and water nearby. If you’re a beginner, start with jogging for 2 or 3 minutes, and increase it gradually each week.

Jump Rope

Go raid a toy box and visit a childhood favorite! Jumping rope is not only a great cardio exercise, but it’s very fun. If you haven’t done it in a while, it’ll take some time to master, but once you do, you won’t be able to stop.

Jumping Jacks

Another classic, jumping jacks are a great way to get your heart pumping. It may take a while to get your rhythm going, but that’s okay. Start with 5 to 10 a day and work up from there.

Cross Leg Lifts

This exercise is much like marching in place, with a twist. Stand with your arms in front of you, elbows bent. Then, slowly at first, bring your right leg up while twisting your waist so that your left elbow touches your right knee. Alternate, and as you get the hang of it, pick up your speed.

Dance

Nothing good on TV? Turn it to your favorite music channel and dance! Not only is dancing a great way to get a cardio workout, but it does wonders for the soul.

Home fitness equipment is very popular these days. These next tips will list 4 popular exercise machines, and what areas they target.

Treadmills

Treadmills are very popular because of they’re so easy to use. Most people know how to walk or run, and a treadmill is a great way to bring this exercise indoors; and maybe in front of the TV. Treadmills target your legs while giving you a great cardio workout.

Stair Steppers

Stair steppers simulate the exercise of walking up stairs. This gives your lower body a great workout, while getting your heart pumping.

Stationary Bikes

Stationary and recumbent bikes are also popular fitness machines. All of them work your legs, and there are some that work your arms as well.

Rowers

Rowing machines simulate the exercise of rowing a boat. They’re great, because they work the arms, abs and back. In fact, if used regularly, rowers can provide a great whole body workout.

This last set of tips will give you some final ideas and pointers to think about as you start your exercise routine.

Commercials

If you’re still overwhelmed at the aspect of exercising during your favorite TV show, try exercising just during commercials. Most shows have 3 or 4 commercials, so pick 3 or 4 exercises and do one per commercial break.

Music Channels

We already mentioned music channels. You can go a bit further, and keep your favorite music channel on while cleaning or doing other activities. Upbeat music will undoubtedly get you dancing!

Stability Ball

A stability ball is an oversized inflated ball that’s sturdy enough to sit on. You can get them at any fitness store. Instead of sitting on the couch to do the exercises in this ebook, try sitting on a stability ball to do them. It will add an edge to the exercises, and help with your balance.

Stop if it Hurts

Exercising isn’t supposed to hurt. It’s very important that with any exercise, if it’s hurting, stop immediately. You could be hurting your body more than you know. If the pain persists, go see your doctor.

Breathe

With all exercises, don’t forget to breathe. Holding your breath makes it harder to exercise, and could even cause injury.

Relax

As you’re exercising one part of your body, don’t forget to keep the other parts of your body. For instance, when you’re doing sit ups, make sure to keep your neck and shoulders relaxed.

An important and sometimes neglected step in stomach exercise routines is isolating particular muscles within the abdominal group. One such set of muscles which needs isolation in order to be exercised properly are the muscles in the lower stomach. There are a number of stomach exercises which isolate and work these muscles. As with any workout routine, be sure to consult a professional before beginning and always warm up properly to avoid injury.

Crunchless Crunch

This first exercise is fairly simple but can also be fairly difficult. Essentially, it involves trying to pull the belly button in towards the spine. This can be tricky, as it involves using muscles which you may not be used to activating. To start, either lie or on your stomach or kneel. You might want to try both ways and see which helps you feel the exercise better. Relax your body as much as possible, then try to use only the lower abdominals to move your belly button toward your spine. Hold for ten seconds. If holding for ten seconds feels easy, hold for a longer period. The goal is to hold the contraction until you either cannot feel it, or you feel other muscles working harder than the transverse abdominus. When you feel this, let the contraction out.

Alternating Toe Touch

You will need to lie on a flat surface for this stomach exercise. The floor works best, using a mat or towel to cushion the spine. Lie on the floor and put your feet up in the air. Extend your right arm and use your lower abdominals to lift your shoulders off the floor. Touch your left toes with your right hand, then lower yourself back down. Switch hands and repeat. Keep your knees straight throughout and maintain a space between your chin and chest.

Sit-Up Hold

While you are still on the floor, try this stomach exercise. Bend your knees so your feet are flat on the floor and position your hands behind your head. Keep your elbows back so you cannot see them– do not put them alongside your head. Use your lower abdominals to lift your shoulders off the floor. Hold for ten seconds. You may increase the number of seconds you hold as it gets easier. Be sure to lift with your abdominals and not with your arms or neck.

Lower Back Flatten

This stomach exercise is a good natural progression from the sit-up hold, as it starts from the same basic position: lying down, knees bent, feet flat. You may have noticed when you did the previous exercise that there is a natural space between your lower back and the floor, created by the curve of your spine. In this exercise, you want to use your lower abdominals to push your lower back toward the floor and eliminate this space. Try to focus on pushing with only your lower abdominals and not your legs. Your pelvis will rotate slightly, which is fine so long as the lower abdominals are doing the work. Once you have got your back flat to the floor, hold the contraction for ten seconds. Again, you should continue to build on this time as your stomach muscles gain strength and endurance.

Stomach exercises are a great way to lose fat if you are asking the question “how to burn fat belly?” We know it is not really possible to target a specific area with a diet, so exercises are the way you have to do it.

Do not take me wrong, you are not going to lose any weight without following a healthy, balanced, calorie controlled diet. Sorry, but that is unfortunately an uncomfortable truth.

So, you have to start with a diet. Make very sure you choose a diet that is well balanced and that supplies you with enough energy to exercise. The reason, of course, is not only your health, but you want to do stomach exercises to help you burn your fat belly!

Another thing you have to keep in mind is that, as in all weight loss efforts, it is a good idea to add some cardio into your daily routine. Cardio is a good way to help your body burn off some extra calories and speed up the whole process.

Do not worry! Doing cardio is actually a whole lot easier than you may think. There are many opportunities during your normal daily routine where you can fit in a little cardio. Think of taking the stairs when you can, walk whenever you can instead of taking the car, train or bus. Things like that. As you can see it does not have to take up too much of your time. All you want to do is send your heart rate up a bit so that your body burn more calories, but also function a whole lot better.

So, what you need to do is; go on a healthy diet, do some cardio exercises and some stomach exercises. With this combination you will never have to ask “how to burn fat belly?” again.

The “Face Down and Side Plank” Core Exercise is a great exercise. It is an awesome functional, athletic movement for you athletes. It will not only give you the ripped Abs you have been looking for, but it will make you spine more pain free. The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs will stabilize your lower back and prevent you from an injury; but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great! Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A couple of rubber bands & some good exercises is all it takes to get started with your home workouts. You do not need any equipment. In fact most of the clubs are wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on equipment that is making peoples bodies less functional and worse off. I started doing these types of movements back in 1983. Basic, compound, power-movements for football. We were taught the big 3, squats, dead lift’s, and hang-clean’s. Through my passion for training myself & my experiences of training over 17000 sessions with busy people just like you, I have learned a lot about becoming lean …

Truth About Six Pack Abs Package Review

It is important to review ab exercise programs fairly and not jump quickly into saying workout packages are scams and don’t work. The truth about abs package is a fat loss program that helps you lose belly fat and help you reveal nice six pack abs underneath. Plus as a bonus you can build solid ab muscle to show off. It will take time, but with effort focused on diet and exercise it can be accomplished. Results vary, but once Mike Geary teaches you the basics, the more advanced exercises will help you much more. You don’t need diet pill scams or crunches to achieve the abs you desire, a solid diet can go a long way. I hope this truth about abs package review will help you understand what the truth about abs is about. One thing it surely is not is a scam. I’ve learned tons from the truth about abs book author Mike Geary and know you will too.

Preview the Truth about Six Pack Abs Package Here

Here are a few Six Pack Abs tips I learned from Mike Geary’s Book:

The first & most important thing to get control of in order to lose your stomach fat & get flat abs is cleaning up your diet. Exercise is important, but your diet is king when it comes to losing body fat so that you can see your abs.

There’s a lot confusion these days about what a healthy diet that promotes fat loss is… after all, they are bombarded by conflicting messages in the news about what is healthy & what is not, & you have all of these gimmicky fad diet books about low carb, low fat, high protein, vegetarian, fasting, atkins, south beach, liquid diets, & much more. There’s a lot conflicting info, that the average dieter doesn’t even know where to start when it comes to eating for fat loss.

The second thing that works over & over again, is to focus on the intensity of your workouts & focus on working the body as a whole in order to get the best metabolic response to lose that difficult to get rid of belly fat.

In order to get lean, the workouts ought to have a high intensity, with short rest periods, working the largest muscle groups of the body, in lieu of trying to isolate specific tiny muscles like the biceps, triceps, or calves.

Download the Truth about Abs Package Here

For the third thing, let’s talk about actually training the abs specifically. When it comes to training the abs, in case you want actual results, I always recommend forgetting about the crunches & situps for the most part. they are ok for somebody that is deconditioned, but most people that already have some training under their belt need a much better stimulus for their abs than crunches. Crunches are one of the abs exercises that actually provide the least amount of resistance, & keep in mind that resistance is what develops & tones the muscles.

I didn’t go very indepth in this truth about abs package review. You’ll have to buy the book to get the most help, but I can say that the truth about six pack abs program is both legit, not a scam, and is was a great help in uncovering my abs. I used to be flabby and now I’m nice and tone.

Want to see your six pack abs?

Take 5 minutes to view the truth about abs website to learn how you can remove your stomach fat and finally see your 6 pack abs.

Thanks for reading my review of Mike Geary’s truth about six pack abs package.

It is only natural, most people want to look their best, and exercising their stomach muscles is usually a huge part of most fitness programs. If so much time and energy is going to be focused on this muscle group, it is a good idea to know what the best stomach exercises are. There are many resources available for finding the best stomach exercises, and plenty of people to say what they consider the best, so how can a person decide for themselves which truly are the best exercises for working their stomach muscles?

First of all it is important to note that the best stomach exercises are those that a person is willing to do. No matter how effective the exercise is, if a person isn’t going to do them consistently the exercise will not benefit that particular individual. It is also important to note that the best stomach exercises do not necessarily require equipment to perform them, although some machines and equipment may work quite well for some people.

When a person decides on a fitness program that includes stomach exercises, it is best to include stomach exercises that work the different parts of the stomach. If a person simply concentrates on one area of their stomach, there workout will not be as effective. The best stomach exercises, combine working the oblique, which are the side muscles, the lower abdominals, the mid section and also the upper section.

Some of the most popular stomach exercises are crunches. These are a very effective exercise and very convenient since they can be performed anywhere without any equipment. The next stomach exercise that is also very popular and goes along with the basic crunch is the side crunch, which works out the oblique.

Some people consider the best stomach exercises to be included in a Pilate’s workout. The reason for this is because in Pilates, the whole focus is on the core of the body which is the abdominal, or stomach muscles. Every movement in a Pilate’s workout will work the stomach muscles either directly or indirectly. These exercises can be found on the internet, either the exercise itself or video’s that can be purchased.

Another good exercise that some fitness experts considers to be one of the best stomach exercises involves laying flat on your stomach, leg straight and then raising your body up using your arms as your hands are clasped together and keeping your body straight as if doing a pushup. Hold this position as long as you can stand. This is an excellent movement to strengthen the whole stomach.

Remember again though that just because one person may consider a specific exercise to be the best stomach exercise that does not necessarily mean it is the best for everyone. Each person’s body is different and will respond differently to certain movements. Any one serious about working on the abdominal muscles will find it most helpful to try several different stomach exercises and then determine which one they can both feel and see results with. If one exercise is simply too hard to do correctly, or does not feel like it has done anything for the muscle group worked, that exercise is clearly not the best and the person should find what works best for them.

As with all things, there is a right way to go about working for a flatter midsection, and several wrong ways. Working out the wrong way can lead to no physical improvement or worse, serious injury. When doing stomach exercises or any other exercise, be sure to consult a professional, warm up properly, and remember the following tips.

Keep Your Knees Up
When doing crunches, you want your knees to bent and your feet flat on the floor so that your knees are centered and pointed upward. Keep them centered and up, not to one side. If you drop your knees to one side, you are unnecessarily compressing your vertebrae, which can lead to a painful back injury.

Sit-Ups
Traditional sit-ups actually do very little for the abdominal muscles. Even when done properly, the strain is mostly on the hip muscles. There is also the tendency to pull the torso up with the arms, which of course is not the point of the exercise. Further, when sit-ups are done very quickly, as people have a tendency to do, it is momentum that mostly forces the torso up and down, rather than any muscle groups. The crunch is a good alternative to old school sit-ups.

Straight Leg Lift
Another traditional “stomach exercise,” this move actually works the lower back more than any muscles in the midsection. This is also another way to put strain on your back, possibly leading to injury.

Too Many Reps
There is never a need to do more fifty reps of a stomach exercise. If fifty reps is not giving you results, doing more than that will not help wither. As you build strength, if you feel the need for a bigger challenge, try a more difficult exercise as an alternative to adding reps.

Sleeping
Believe it or not, how you sleep has an effect on your stomach exercise routine. If you sleep in a position that cause back pain, it will make it much more difficult to work on your midsection in the morning. Sleeping mostly on your stomach is one of the best ways to cause back pain, as it forces your back to arch, often resulting in annoying back pain. The best way to avoid this is to sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees. This will help keep your vertebrae in line, prevent back pain and allowing you work out pain free in the morning.

No Resistance
All stomach exercises need resistance to be effective, whether it comes from a resistance band, an exercise ball, or just gravity. Exercises that do not use any resistance, such as standing broomstick twists, will not be beneficial to your midsection. The good news is that this particular exercise will not do any harm and is actually a good warm up for your trunk. Just do not expect it to flatten out your stomach.

Proper exercise technique is important. These are just a few tips to help you avoid wasting time and potential injury. Be sure to research thoroughly before beginning a new exercise, and always consult your physician before beginning any physical fitness routine.
