In the Truth About Abs, Mike Geary pulls no punches and gives you the truth on what it takes to get 6 pack abs. In fact, he overdelivers with his product, which can overwhelm not only the rookie, but the advanced gym-goer as well.

The Truth About Abs covers a TON of topics that include:

So, you can see how I could have been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information in The Truth About Abs. In fact, it took me 3 whole days of doing nothing but reading The Truth About Abs to get my hands around the exercises and diet habits enlisted by Mike Geary.

I have to tell you, Mike Geary knows his stuff and presents it in a way that is easy to understand. He is truly a guru, and The Truth About Abs is the real deal. But, even with this wealth of information, there are 2 obvious things missing from The Truth About Abs.

Honestly, I couldn’t believe that Mike Geary didn’t have this as part of his Truth About Abs program. So what was I to do? Like they say, necessity is the mother of all invention, so I had to create these two items myself.

And like I said previously, The Truth About Abs covers all the material in very good detail. But when I started to implement the program, I was running into stumbling blocks that were stopping me from getting the results that I wanted. So I created 2 tools to help increase the effectiveness of my workouts.

I’d like to share the 2 tools I created, so that you are aware of what can be done to help your workouts.

What was the first solution?

Like I said before, there is a TON of information in The Truth About Abs, and so much to absorb. There was no possible way that I could memorize the workout routines that Mike Geary put out in full detail. There were so many different exercises that I have never heard of, and didn’t know how to perform correctly.

So I had to bring The Truth About Abs to the gym. Do you know how inconvenient that was? I had to flip through pages & pages trying to find the right exercise and how to do it. It was both embarrassing and inefficient.

To solve this, I personally recorded the workout routines on MP3 files, detailing each exercise in the same order as in The Truth About Abs. I walk through each exercise, and give you step-by-step instructions on how to properly perform each exercise.

To help myself out when I was at the gym, I recorded:

1. How to correctly hold the weight & proper body positioning – This way, I didn’t have to think about it anymore…I just followed my instructions and to do the exercises correctly.

2. What muscle I should feel “working” – I know exactly where I should feel my muscles ‘squeeze’ and ‘flex’ to get maximum results.

Then I downloaded these files to my iPod (or any other MP3 player) which I followed along at the gym. No lugging around any books, flipping pages trying to find out how to do each exercise while somebody is waiting for my bench.

It’s like having a trainer with me every step of the way!

What was the second solution?

In The Truth About Abs, Mike Geary lays out workout routines in great detail. His workouts are very creative, and truly involve your entire body to get you strong, toned abs.

But he doesn’t provide a way to track your workouts!

If there was one tip that I could give to anyone who wants true results from their workout program, it would be this…TRACK YOUR RESULTS! Like the saying goes, “What gets tracked, gets results.” That holds very true in this case.

I painstakingly created workout tracking sheets that I could just print them out, put them into a binder, and bring with me to the gym to track my results. Each sheet represents one workout. I took the exact workout routine from The Truth About Abs and put it into a format where I could track my performance for each workout.

Each exercise is already filled in, so I didn’t have to remember which exercise to do. And the Truth About Abs workout tracking sheets are synchronized with the Truth About Abs MP3 files above to keep my workout fluid and efficient. All I have to do is fill in your results.

The funny thing is, I didn’t even believe it myself, but I got stronger each workout when I started tracking my results. I lifted more weight and performed more reps simply because I knew what I did the last workout, and wanted to outdo it. Coincidence? I think not.

So, as you can see, The Truth About Abs provides a wealth of information to you. The core knowledge provides all the information you need to get six pack abs. But it is lacking in 2 areas: having an audio workout that you can follow along in the gym AND a way to track your workout performance.

It is very important that you have a realistic goal. Everyone wants to get fit and get toned up fast, but like anything that is worth doing, there is time and effort needed in the process. You can’t get result overnight. So, set realistic goal, get some motivation and be patient.

Cardio workouts like running, brisk walking, bicycling, and aerobics are great for boosting metabolism, improving cardiovascular fitness, and burning fat. Resistance exercises like weight training are great for building lean muscle, improving balance and strengthening your body overall.

For me personally, I would combine both cardio and resistance exercise – meaning that I will do cardio exercise at leat three times a week and then do strength training twice a week.

I have found that the best formula to achieve result or getting in shape quickly is by doing both cardio exercises and strength training. This is my ideal formula, you may experience differently.

Some people prefer to do more strength training instead of cardio exercise. A friend of mine do strength training at least three times a week. He doesn’t do any cardio exercise.

So, depending on your condition, you may want to devote more of your time to one over another.

How much time is needed to get in shape? Experts often recommend beginners to start with 30 minutes of exercise, 3 times per week. If you want to get in shape quick you may need to bump that up a bit, but do it carefully so you don’t get hurt.

Trying to exercise for one, two or three hours at a time will most likely be too much for you at first. However, if you split that time up into smaller segments that you can do several times a day, it’s much easier.

If your schedule permits it, you might perform three to four 30 minute workouts each day. Or do two workout sessions, and then get into the habit of including more exercise into the rest of your day, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

One thing to keep in mind is that, do not push yourself too hard. As I mentioned earlier, it is a process. You may be tempted to push yourself to the limit so that you can get faster progress. However, be aware that over exercise can be harmful to your body. So again, be patient… set your goals and stick to the plan.

Therefore, the best way to get in shape and maintain your good health is to enjoy the process, do not just focus on the final result. You will get good result if you get the process right.

The good news is that with just a little bit of effort and determination, it’s easy to get in shape quick – and once you do, you’ll be less likely to go back to your old couch potato habits.

Many people want to get in shape but never take action to actually do it. They listen to their friends, they tried a diet or exercise program for a few days and then stopped. Then, they found another program and tried it for a short time and stopped again… then they got into another one and never completed it again. So, they end up in an endless-cycle. If you seriously want to get in shape, do not fall into this trap. Just get into one program or regimen, set realistic goals and stick to your plan.

The goal when burning fat is simply to burn calories.  There is no secret heart rate that magically burns fat, forget that old story.  There are many types of fat burning activities to choose from, the type you choose is completely up to you, but here are a few options to try.

Traditional cardio: This type of cardio is just your standard jogging or walking on the treadmill.  This type of activity is effective in your attempts in getting lean when done for at least 45 minutes to an hour. Personally, I recommend about 30 minutes of traditional cardio if you are already strenuous workout routine.

Keep your metabolism up: It is very important that you break up your meals into 6 per day.  This is sure to turn your body into a fat burning machine and keep that metabolism working hard by eating every 2 to 3 hours.  You will get proper nutrition by fueling your body this way and it will help you retain your muscle mass as well as help you in getting lean, fast. 

A few more advanced tips to getting lean:
 

To cut down on water retention, consume a gallon of water each day. 
Perform your cardio in the morning on an empty stomach.

Developing ripped abdominals is difficult for most people. There are hundreds of products on the market that promise flat, fit abs in minutes. These programs are expensive, require equipment, or simply don’t work. Luckily, there are many bodyweight exercises that can help you quickly, safely, and privately get the toned abs you’ve always wanted. These exercises are quick, safe, and easy to learn. You can do them a few times a week for fewer than 20 minutes and see great results.

The traditional abdominal exercise, the crunch or sit up, is a waste of time. Your abdominal muscles are strong and burning them out doing crunches does little to improve their appearance. In fact, crunches are consistently rated one of the least effective ways to build core (abdominal strength). Instead, I’ve made a list of simple exercises that will get your started on your ab-building journey. They are simple and safe. If, while performing any of these exercises, you feel discomfort, stop immediately. There should never be any discomfort when you work out.

Leg Lifts: Lay on the floor looking at the ceiling with your arms by your side. Place your hands underneath the small of your back. Make sure you feel comfortable. Keep your legs locked out in front of you and slowly raise them 6 – 8 inches off the floor. Hold this position for 10 seconds and lower your legs down. Repeat three to four times.

Leg Raises: Lying on the floor with your hands underneath the small of your back, again raise your legs. This time, however, do not stop and raise them until they are perpendicular to the floor. Do not let your knees bend or let your upper back come away from the floor. Lower them down slowly. Start with 3 sets of 5.

Vee Ups: Vee Ups are a difficult exercise and require practice and patience. You again begin by laying on the ground. This time, however, extend your hands above your head. Your goal is to use your abdominals to pull your legs and your upper body off the floor, leaving only your lower back touching the ground. At first, this will be difficult, so your goal should be to simply master the technique. Think about flattening your lower back against the ground and contracting your abdominals as hard as you can. Once you can accomplish this, experiment with Vee Up holds (10 seconds) or doing Vee Ups in sets of 3. This exercise is extremely effective at building abdominal (core) strength.

Planks: Even if you are unable to do a pushup, you should work hard on the plank. It is a great exercise for building physical (abdominal) mental strength. To perform a plank, get into a pushup position. For those of you who perform modified pushups, please get into a regular pushup position with only your arms and knees touching the ground. Make sure your body is aligned — keep your butt, shoulders and ankles in a solid line. Now, simply hold that position as long as you can. At first, it will be difficult so try holding for 5 seconds. Slowly build up the time you can hold this position. 30 seconds — 1 minute per round is excellent. Repeat three or four times.

These exercises will get you started on your way to a flatter, fitter stomach. Remember to allow adequate rest between sets and between exercises. There is no point rushing through each exercise and leaving your body exhausted.

While these four exercises should be used as part of a complete workout routine, they are specifically designed to maximize your time.

A routine composed of a few sets of each of these exercises should take no more than 15 minutes and can be done 3 times per week. You can do all of these exercises in the comfort of your home and, best of all, there is no expensive equipment to buy.

Lastly, utilizing nutritional supplements, such as nitric oxide and l-arginine can help your body rapidly develop and build muscle in targeted areas.
